Star Wars in Your Pants

Destroy the Death Star with nothing but your iPhone

Death Stars can be a real pain in the ass, with their unexpectedly functioning shields and their proclivity for blowing up Alderaan. But if you recall the words of a certain General Dodonna (don’t act like you don’t remember him), you’d remember there’s a weakness in the battle station: It’s a small thermal exhaust port, below the main port. The target is only two meters wide, but a precise hit will start a chain reaction, which should destroy the whole station.

Wait, we know what you’re quoting back to us: That’s impossible! Even for a computer.

But we say to you: It’s not impossible. You used to bulls-eye womp rats in your T-16 back home. And they’re not much bigger than two meters.

So shut up and put your skills to the test with THQ’s new iPhone game Star Wars: Trench Run. It lets you re-enact Luke’s initial dogfight with TIE Fighters above the Death Star, then thread the titular trench to deliver a couple proton torpedoes to the reactor system.

Trench Run has lovingly ganked the music and cockpit views from the original movie, and play is simple. Maneuver your X-wing by tilting your phone. Fire by touching one side of the screen. Use the Force to slow down the action by tapping the other.

Creepy disembodied voice of dead Obi-Won Kenobi not included.
