Getting MSTie for the Holidays
Searching for the perfect gift for that person in your life who enjoys not enjoying things? Or are you perhaps the type of person who would rather laugh at someone than laugh with them? Then we’ve got just the DVD set for you!
Revisit the glory years of MST3K, with their latest repackaging of old episodes: Mystery Science Theater 3000: XVI. No team of imaginary satellite inhabitants has ever been so good at making fun of things that were so bad. This DVD set hits streets today and contains the loving evisceration of four delightfully terrible movies: The Corpse Vanishes, in which Bela Lugosi does his mad scientist schtick, Night Of The Blood Beast, an alien-on-Earth chucklefest courtesy of Roger Corman, Warrior Of The Lost World, a post-apocalyptic romp complete with a talking motorcycle, and, just in time for Christmas, Santa Claus, a holiday classic in which Santa lives in outer space and is assisted by the wizard Merlin. Merry Christmas Merlin!
The riffing is lead by the show’s initial host Joel Hodgson on two of the films and follow-up host Mike Nelson on the other two. As an added bonus, the first production run of the DVD set comes with an appropriately shoddy-looking Tom Servo figurine. You can use him ventriloquist-style to make fun of any achingly bad Christmas gatherings in your actual life.
