… And a Poltergeist in a Pear Tree

The Ghostbusters take on the spirits from ‘A Christmas Carol’ in IDW’s ‘Ghostbusters Holiday Special: Past, Present and Future’

Ebenezer Scrooge was right—Christmas can be a real drag, what with fighting the crowds at the mall, holiday party hangovers and crappy gifts. We might be jaded, but if we were kept up all night by ghosts nagging us about the true meaning of the holiday season like Ebenezer was, we’d get someone to handle that nonsense—and who ya gonna call in that situation?

In Ghostbusters Holiday Special: Past, Present and Future—which hits comic shops today—that’s what goes down, as Charles Dickens’ trio of haunts squares off against Dr. Venkman and Co.

“New York’s premiere paranormal investigators are hired by Manhattan’s richest man on Christmas Eve,” explains IDW writer Rob Williams. “Each year the same Dickensian ghosts arrive to try and teach him the error of his billionaire ways, and he’s had enough of it. So, it’s up to Venkman, Ray, Egon and Winston to capture the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.”

However, the original ghost hunters soon discover that these holly-jolly ghouls have a few tricks up their sleeves.

“These spirits have a habit of making those they encounter face up to their sins, and that’s a pain for Venkman, who just wants to catch his flight to the Caesars Palace ‘All you can eat festive buffet incorporating erotic dance.’”
