The Greatest Degeneration
Imagine the horrors of war. Now add zombies.
What do you know about WWII? Not enough? Prepare to be slapped in the face with the severed hand of Winston Churchill! Small-press zombie comic FUBAR is getting ready to deliver a history lesson in the horrors of human conflict.
Do we really need another zombie book? We say yes if it follows in the gory-ous footsteps of films like 1977's Shock Waves. (Haven't seen it? Poser. It stars "Grand Moff Tarkin" Peter Cushing vs. WWII-era zombie super-soldiers).
FUBAR improves upon that tradition, including a variety of classic WWII settings. The beaches of Normandy, the Dutch front and Stalingrad are all haunted by the hungry hordes. No one is safe from corpsefication; one tale features Zombie FDR vs Stalin. We asked old Mr. Roosevelt if he minds being included in the book. "Not at all," he said, "I love Communists. They're delicious." Then his jaw fell off.
While zombie-lit like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has some feral fans gnashing their teeth for being too tame, underground books like FUBAR continue to
mash up the undead with classic storytelling. Look for this savage sleeper to hit in Fall, 2010.
