SNL stars tell GCD what it's like seeing their work in comic-book form
The Short Halloween hardcover is out this week, and its lead story is the one-shot that was written by SNL castmates and longtime comic fans Seth Meyers and Bill Hader. The duo shared with GCD their reactions to the comic being released earlier this year.
Seth Meyers: I was very excited. I didn't know what the protocol was for how many I could buy—I didn't want to look lame, so I bought only three the first time. Then I found out from my brother that Hader went to every store in L.A. and bought, like, all of them.
Bill Hader: I did go to Golden Apple and Meltdown, and I did buy every single copy. But the best was when I was working on a movie and went to this little comic book shop in New Mexico. I went up to the counter with the three copies they had and said, “Here you go,” and the checkout guy goes, “Yeah, this book's pretty funny.” I'm like, “Aw, that's good.” He goes, “Yeah, it was written by Seth Meyers and Whatshisface.” Then he looks at me and goes, “Holy s---!” I took a picture with him and I signed the comic book: “Love your store – Whatshisface.”
