Ghostbusting 101

Prep for tonight’s premieres of A&E’s 'Paranormal State' and 'Psychic Kids' with tips from star and psychic medium, Chip Coffey.

On dealing with good
Lots of people live with benevolent or benign spirits on a daily basis. It’s not always Amityville Horror. Sometimes it’s more like Casper the Friendly Ghost. A creak or a groan might just be Grandma, and you don’t want to kick her out necessarily. Unless you think it's malicious, I say share your house with the dead. Ask them to unload the dishwasher.

On dealing with evil
If you think a spirit is malevolent, take charge immediately. Treat it like a freeloader you don’t want living there anymore. I start off as nice as I can and say, “You are not allowed to scare me, so knock it off.” If it escalates, then I tell it to get the F out of my house. If you think you’re dealing with a demonic force, you may want to cleanse with holy water. I keep mine in a spray bottle and I just spray it all over the place.

On this season’s biggest scare
The scariest thing that happens this season is an episode of Psychic Kids with a little girl who sees a demon face in the mirror. It’s intense. It’ll make you poop your pants.
