Cartoon Democracy

Why did Benjamin Franklin invent voting? So you could chose Adult Swim's newest show!

You’ve been sour on TV show voting ever since the demoralizing season three finale of Dancing with the Stars, in which viewers awarded the prestigious disco ball trophy to the overrated Emmit Smith instead of the incomparable A.C. Slater. (If you don't remember A.C. Slater, he's the guy who played Mario Lopez in the MTV show America’s Best Dance Crew.)

But put that hurt behind, America. It’s time to regain your faith in television democracy.

Adult Swim is currently previewing pilots of eight brand new shows on their website and, in a series of head-to-head matchups, allowing viewers to vote for which one will eventually see air. Will it be Cheyenne Cinnamon (pictured here), a show helmed by Aqua Teen Hunger Force co-creator Dave Willis about a pop-star princes living in a magical land called Sugar Town Candy Fudge? Will it be Snake ‘N Bacon, the bizarre adventures of a snake and a delicious slice of bacon? Or Soul Quest Overdrive an ATHF spinoff featuring pieces of sports equipment that abuse drugs? Or even Yappy Broads, a live-action talk show featuring fat dudes in drag alongside a former Miss USA? The winning show will air on Adult Swim the week of March 22.

It should be noted that the entire contest is being sponsored by Burger King, because the King wants you to have your programming your way. (See what they did there?) Still, it is decidedly ironic that this shining example of television democracy is being brought to us by a burger monarch.
